Stepping Out Into Greatness, Part II

moonstars_noao_bigThis first step is always the hardest.
Why? Fear of the unknown. It is scary to take a leap of faith. Anything can happen. Quite frankly, you don’t know what will happen because if you did then it wouldn’t be faith, now would it? The acronym for F.E.A.R. is False Evidence Appearing Real. It is just an illusion. Back in the day, there was a popular commercial for a tape company entitled Memorex. (By the way, I am not THAT old. SMILE). Their slogan was, “Is it Real or is it Memorex?” Well, in the context of our discussion I would have to go with Memorex for 5000, Alex. (That was a Jeopardy reference). I digress.

The beautiful thing is, once you get over the fear, it gets easier. That is not to say that it will be easy. There will be rough roads ahead. You will be stretched beyond imagination. But, it will make you better, stronger, and wiser. As they say, that which does not kill you makes you stronger.  What is your vision? What is your dream? It is time to stop talking about it and be about it.

Everything Starts with a Decision

Once you make up in your mind to whole-heatedly pursue that dream then the heavens will open up to you. There is a thing called the Law of Attraction. In a nut shell it says that when you speak something into the universe than things will align in your favor and it will happen.  I have personally found this to be true. Several years ago, at the top of the year I made a list of everything that I wanted to accomplish that year. I met with my mentor regularly and we prayed and submitted my petition to God. The following year, I happened to look back at that list and EVERYTHING that I set out to do was accomplished, including finding a job in my field in the midst of recession.  I had searched for a job six years prior, but it did not happen till I started speaking it.So, I am not preaching to you about something I have not experienced first-hand.

Currently, I am undertaking a great step of faith. I had the desire to start my own graphic and web design company. I started it with no money.  Being my own source of income, somehow I have not gone without.  Anyone who has started a business from the ground up knows that the first couple of years are normally in the red. To date, God has provided, all the bills are paid and things are looking up. April 2, 2014 will mark the one year anniversary of MeddleMind Design. That is not to say that it has been easy. Times have been lean. I have had to stretch my thinking and sometimes go outside of my comfort zone. But, if you want something you have never had, you have to do something you have never done.

I challenge you today to think about what you want. What is your dream? Make a conscious decision to pursue it with all of your might. Remove quitting, “I can’t,” “it’s too hard,” and “I don’t know how” from the table. When out is not an option then you will start to do what you have to do to get to your desired end.  You can do it! I believe in you!

I would love to hear about your dream. Below, leave me a comment concerning what you want to attain this year. Put a completion date with that so you can measure your progress. A goal without a deadline is merely a wish. Aim for the moon so even if you fall short you will be among the stars.  I will also be praying for your dream to come into fruition during my daily prayer time. Share as much or as little as you feel comfortable. Release it into the atmosphere and watch the heavens begin to align in your favor.
